Dr. Philip Tyler

Dr. Philip Tyler is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, with over 25 years of experience spanning aerospace, energy, infrastructure, and transport. He combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, specialising in transforming research into scalable solutions and raising finance to accelerate innovation and growth.

Directs financial strategy and investor relations, ensuring sustainable growth while advancing low-carbon technologies that modernise legacy systems.
- Managing Director, Enabling Process Technologies Ltd (2002–present)
Leads contracts, long-term collaborations, finance, and team growth; expanded EPT from aerospace consultancy to international R&D partner in energy resilience, renewable integration, and advanced materials.
- Non-Executive Director, ALT Resources (2021–2025)
Member of the Remuneration and Audit Committees.
- Director, La Tourelle Consulting Ltd (2015–present)
Advises on financing for energy and infrastructure, particularly mining and petrochemicals.
- Advisor to the Board, Solar Ready Ltd (2015–2025)
Guided R&D strategy and secured Innovate UK and private funding for solar and storage technologies.
Career and Collaborations
Since founding EPT in 2002, Philip has secured and managed major international R&D programmes across Europe, the US, South Korea, and Nepal.
Through Innovate UK collaborations, he first met and then partnered with Paul and David on projects ranging from hollow-pipe cooling systems to advanced manufacturing, leading to the GANESHA and HAECHI initiatives.
Education and Global Perspective
Philip’s passion for engineering began early, matched by his fascination with international collaboration and culture. He was among the first to join the Master of Engineering programme at the University of Sheffield, which included studies in Germany.
He later completed part of his PhD in Japan and a Post-Doctorate at UC Berkeley in California, experiences that shaped his global approach to technology and innovation.
Beyond Engineering
A self-confessed gastronome, Philip takes every opportunity during research and business travel to explore local cuisine and culture. He enjoys recreating recipes from his travels for friends and colleagues. He is also an enthusiastic woodland advocate, having planted over 700 native British trees in his local area over the last five years to encourage biodiversity and support native wildlife.
Mentorship and STEM Advocacy
Philip remains closely involved with his former school, supporting STEM and engineering students by helping them secure internships and develop career pathways.
Through EPT’s internship programme, he continues to mentor the next generation, encouraging students to engage directly with ongoing research and innovation projects.
